The book has tried to highlight the amount of child abuse which takes place at home (by parents, guardians, in-locoparentis and other elders). Also, there is huge population of working children in our country who are further exploited by their employer by not being provided with proper wages, food, etc. A large number of children are abused by unfamiliar persons wuch as trafficking, kidnapping for ransom and buying and selling of children, etc.
It has been highlighted in the book that due to non-uniformity of the age of the child under various laws there is a lot of confusion with regard to the dealing with children. The book explores the exciting national and International laws and policies to take care of the right of children. The Indian Legislature has enacted various legislations in the recent past to deal with Child Rights violations, such as, Juvenile Justice Act, 2000, the Right of children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 and National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005, etc., which have been elaborately covered by the author. The book also covers in detail the Judicial attitude in protecting and promoting child rights through some landmark Judgments. The Role of the Non-Governmental Organizations in protecting child rights has also been highlighted in the book.
